The top ranked 2A Marian Knights defeated the Saint Joe Indians to claim the annual Holy War rivalry game between the two schools. A defensive battle in the first half that saw the St. Joe keeper make 2 point blank saves to keep the score tied. Just two minutes into the second half, Senior Olivia White found freshman Mia Veldman who spun off a defender and put the ball in the upper 90 to put the Knights up 1-0. A strong defense and great keeper play from junior Ainsley Butler held the Indians scoreless. With 8 minutes left, St. Joe equalized to send the game to overtime. The game would not be decided in the overtimes so the game went to penalties.

Junior Ainsley Butler would make 3 BIG saves and fellow junior Addy Slagh won the game with her made PK.

Marian Knights will finish the regular season Thursday at 7:00 pm when they travel to Adams to finish the last 26 minutes from last week’s power outage. With a win, Marian can claim the NIC Conference title.
