Last night, the Lady Knights discovered their path to an unprecedented fourth straight Sectional crown. Beginning on Wednesday, February 3rd, Marian will take on Jimtown in the 2nd game at Saint Joseph High School. Winning on that night will set up a Holy War against Saint Joseph on Friday, February 5th. Victories on Wednesday and Friday will have the ladies in the Sectional Championship on Saturday night! (All Sectional games will be played at St. Joseph)
Prior to the 2017-18 season, Steve Scott was hired as the fourth coach in four years. With the Lady Knights needing a steady influence, the 14-year veteran with 174 wins at Clay, Adams and Elkhart Memorial, made an immediate impact. Not only did he set the record for most wins in a season (21), but he helped bring the first ever Sectional Championship in the program’s history during his first season on the Marian bench. Over the next two years, he re-set and tied the record for most wins in a season (22 each in 18-19 and 19-20) and two more Sectional titles.
Over the past four seasons, Marian has won 81 games, including 16 this season. The ladies have just one more regular season game left this year (vs. John Glenn on Wednesday). A victory against the visiting Falcons will clinch 2nd place in the conference all by themselves. The Lady Knights have never in its history finished 2nd outright (they shared 2nd in 2017-18).
After Wednesday, our Knights will shift their focus to Postseason mode. Currently, Marian is one of 15 teams in the State of Indiana that has an active streak with three or more Sectional titles since 2018. They know a fourth will be difficult, but look forward to the challenge! #GoKnights
