Knights News · Fall Sports – 2018

As we wrap up another successful Fall Season at Marian High School, only the  Football team remains in competition.  Those Knights head to Fairfield tomorrow night to open Sectional Play at 7:00.  With a win there, Marian will host the winner of Jimtown and Knox the following Friday in the Semi-Final of Sectionals.

This past Friday, the boys wrapped up an impressive regular season with a 41-0 win over the Washington Panthers.  With that victory, the Knights won a share of the NIC-South with a 5-1 division record.

Both our Boys and Girls Soccer teams came up short in their quest to win a Sectional title, but had impressive seasons nonetheless.  Not only did they have team success, but individual success as well.  For the boys team, Ned Morrison was named first team All-NIC.  Johnny Wang made the second team, while Michael Baughman was named Honorable Mention.  For the girls team, both Francie Hartnagel and Paulina Carles earned the honor of first team.  Ellie Costello was named to the second team and Grace Weaver was selected as Honorable Mention.

In Girls Golf, not only did Rosa Trippel earn First Team All-NIC, but also advanced to the Regional round of the State Tournament.

In Cross Country, the Knights advanced four runners to the Regional round of the State Tournament.  Congratulations to Karen Hunckler, Benjamin Balderas, Isaac Letcher and Nathan Samuels!

Our Volleyball team came up short in their quest to a three-peat.  Despite the disappointing loss in Sectional play, the ladies won 25 games this year and won the NIC South Division, allowing the nine seniors who will graduate this year to leave a tremendous legacy.  Chloe Lentych was named to the Second team All-NIC and Talia Thornton earned First team All-NIC honors.  Bella Ravotto not only was named First Team All-NIC, but was also voted on as the NIC Most Valuable Player.

Congratulations to all of our Fall Athletes and Good Luck to our Football team as they attempt to win their fourth straight Sectional Championship!
