The Lady Knights accomplished on Saturday what no other team in Marian Girls Basketball history had done before. Having won their first two games of the Sectional in convincing fashion over New Prairie and Jimtown respectively, Marian faced an extremely difficult challenge. Not only was John Glenn a 20-5 team, but they would be playing on their home floor in front of their home crowd. Marian Nation responded in kind bringing many fans and students to cheer for the Knights just as loudly as the home fans cheered for their team.
Jumping out to an early lead with a pair of 3-pointers by Makayla Weaver and Meghan Urbanski, the Knights never trailed the entire game. Despite a banked 3-pointer by John Glenn as the time left in regulation expired, the girls confidence and spirit never dwindled as they prevailed in Overtime 43-38.
Marian will travel to Twin Lakes this Saturday at 11 am to take on Northwestern, the #1 team in 3A.
