Multiple Teams · Girls Basketball seeks 1st Ever Sectional Title

The Lady Knights open up their season tonight against Fairfield at 7:00 at home.

Fresh off their best regular season ever (14 wins), Marian sets its sights on something that has not been done in the history of the program, winning a Sectional Title!

Heading up the task is first year Marian coach Steve Scott.  Coach Scott has a little experience in this area having won two sectional titles in his career, one at Clay and the other at Elkhart Memorial and believes he has the combination of players that can make that dream a reality.

Those players include Meghan Urbanski.  The 4-year starter has already amassed 841 career points and with a big year is poised to become the school’s all-time leading scorer as she trails current leader Alex Bousquet by 241 points.

Joining Urbanski is fellow Senior Alyssa Grzesiowski whose leadership and smarts will allow her to contribute to this year’s team.  A quartet of Juniors figure to play a big role as well.  Megan Christianson, Kiya Roby, Makayla Weaver, and Anija Payne all played important parts on last year’s record breaking squad and will look to up their game in order to reach the goals set by the 2017-18 team.

A pair of Sophomores will round out the depth of this team.  Christina Himelick, who scored 99 points in her first year, will look to expand her role and newcomer Jaiden Rangel will add to an already solid guard rotation.

These ladies are ready to make history and it begins tonight!  Come out and support!
