Game Recap

The Knights could not overcome an early deficit and fall 3-1 in the regular season finally. The visiting Indians drew first blood just 90 seconds into the game. Marian create a few great scoring chances but the Indians keeper was up for the challenge. Junior Francie Hartnagel connected with Sophomore Reyna Cruz who drove a shot near post but the Indians keeper deflected it just wide. Nice minutes later, Junior Megan Bullock served a ball to freshman Maria Bennett who header was saved. St. Joe would extend their lead with two goals in a 2 1/2 minute stretch late in the first half. Marian recovered and got on the board when freshman Olivia White found Megan Bullock on the far post for the header goal. Marian almost made it two when Francie’s shot went just over the bar.
While the second half did not change the scoreboard, Marian created some great goal scoring opportunities. The Marian Knights end the regular season 10-5-1 and will play Clay on Thursday in the first round of sectional play.
